ICCROM – Sharjah Award for Good Practices in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management in the Arab Region

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, ICCROM’s Regional Conservation Centre in Sharjah (ICCROM-Sharjah) has launched the Biennial ICCROM-Sharjah Award for good practices in cultural heritage conservation and management in the Arab Region in 2017. This Award seeks to honour and reward outstanding work that contributes to the protection and vitality of tangible cultural heritage in the Arab world.

The Award reflects ICCROM-Sharjah’s commitment to:

  • help safeguard the movable and immovable cultural heritage of the Arab region;
  • promote good practices in the conservation and management of cultural heritage;
  • facilitate the international exchange of knowledge and experience in cultural heritage conservation and management;
  • enhance public awareness and appreciation of cultural heritage.

The Award, as a whole, sponsors the sharing of knowledge and experience for the mutual benefit of the wider community. It recognizes the individuals, teams, and organizations responsible for creating successful cultural heritage conservation projects and acknowledges the complex challenges they face.
