Present at the signing was ICCROM-ATHAR’s Director Dr. Zaki Aslan, Regional Representative of ICCROM for the Arab States, and Dr. Amir Pasic, Director of Architecture Department, IRCICA.
The main purpose of this framework agreement is to establish a cooperation that is to be implemented jointly by ICCROM-ATHAR and IRCICA in the area of cultural heritage in the Arab world. This agreement will allow for the continued commitment towards quality improvement and knowledge sharing in the fields of cultural heritage protection, preservation and management.
The main activities to be implemented throughout the three-year duration of this agreement are:
- Establishing field school(s) with a network of university postgraduate programmes to be linked to the ICCROM-ATHAR postgraduate programme, currently being prepared with the University of Sharjah;
- Contribution to project-oriented research addressing specific topics. IRCICA also has a rich archive on cultural heritage in the region that will be put at the disposal of projects led by ICCROM-ATHAR.
