Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, ICCROM-Sharjah has announced the call for applications for “ICCROM-Sharjah Award for Good Practices in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management in the Arab Region, 2019″. This Biennial award seeks to honour and reward outstanding work that contributes to the protection and vitality of tangible cultural heritage in the Arab world.
The award process is organized in two stages. The first stage is an open competition resulting in nominations for exemplary cultural heritage conservation projects. Between five and seven projects that reflect the quality and variety of the applications will be shortlisted from each category. In the second stage of the competition, the representatives of the nominated projects will be invited to Sharjah, UAE, to present their projects to an independent award panel consisting of internationally renowned experts, who will select the winners for the awards to the projects that demonstrate exceptional achievements in the practice of conservation. Each award consisting of a Trophy and a monetary prize of 10.000 Euros for winners in each of the two categories will be given in the name of the submitted project. The deadline for receiving entries for the 2019 Award for cultural heritage conservation will be on 10 November 2019. On 10 December 2019, the nominated projects eligible for the two award will be announced. The award event including an exhibition, final evaluation and announcement of the awards winners will be on 11-12 February 2020.
