The Illumined Word Conference, Historic Qur’ans: codicology and conservation hosted at MIA on the 22 and 23 April 2014. The conference aims to introduce the materiality of the historic Qur’an and its features. It will not explore the content of the book but rather its physical aspects, from the text block to the cover.  A series of presentations delivered by scholars, art historians and conservators will developed the Art of the Qur’an from Spain to Southeast Asia. These lectures, free of charge, are designed for a wide audience as well as for conservators, librarians, conservation students, manuscript experts and art historians, and other interested professionals or learners.
